Frank Sound Sanctuary

Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Kluge began the work at Old Man Bay in the 1950s. Worship services were first held in Mr. Trenvick Miller’s home and later in Mr. Linton Whittaker’s home. Sis. Margaret Adina “Maggie” Bodden (nee Miller) provided the land for the church building on the beach of Old Man Bay.

Along with many others, Rev. Kluge worked tirelessly mixing cement and swatting mosquitoes! After the Kluges left, other missionaries sent to Cayman continued the work at Old Man Bay, enlisting local believers to assist. Several people from the George Town congregation assisted in helping the church. Among them were Bros. Merrill Wood, Winston Rose, Stanwyck Myles, James Watler, and Tom White.

After Brothers Myles and Watler went overseas to college and Bro. Rose answered the call to serve as the pastor at Bodden Town Church of God (while still working full-time), the work at Old Man Bay was temporarily halted. When Bro. Myles returned in 1978, he and Rev. Dewey Johnson, who was pastoring West Bay at the
time, undertook major repairs as the Old Man Bay sanctuary had fallen into serious disrepair. Bro. Myles, Rev. Johnson and others resumed the work at Old Man Bay. Bro. Myles recruited Bro. Alson Ebanks to assist with the music and they, along with Bro. Andy Parsons took turns preaching, In order to bring more stability to the
church Bro. Myles moved to Old Man Bay.

Pastor Myles served the Old Man Bay Church of God until 1985, when Pastor Alson took over the work travelling some 100 miles per Sunday with his wife and two children, and others recruited to help with the Sunday School as well as those
along the route that needed a ride to church.

In 1988, the roof of the church was blown off by Hurricane Gilbert. The building had deteriorated and a larger site was needed to enable the work to grow. At the same time Frank Sound was developing and more people were moving there.
Captain Eldon Kirkconnell donated the money to buy approximately 18 acres of land for a new church building. The long-term vision was to develop the site as a retreat, nature preserve and campsite. Pastor Alson recruited Rev Neville
Daley to assist him with pastoring the congregation and they shared preaching responsibilities. Neither received a salary.

At the new site in Frank Sound, they pitched a tent and held services. In 1992, Pastor Alson was called to pastor the Church of God Chapel congregation in George Town and Pastor Daley then assumed full responsibility to pastor the Old Man Bay congregation.

The new sanctuary in Frank Sound was built under Pastor Daley’s leadership. When he moved to the United States to pursue doctoral studies, Bro. Anthony Singh filled in for a while as interim pastor until Bro. William Peguero received the call. Initially, Pastor Peguero was asked to work temporarily at Frank Sound. He conducted his first service on 15 August 1999. On 20 February 2000, he was officially installed as pastor of the congregation which he served for almost 13 years. His wife, Sis. Ellen Peguero was officially ordained by the General Assembly as a minister of the Gospel on 23 September, 2007 and assumed the responsibility as Senior Pastor in 2011.

In February 2015, Pastor Shawn Knight took over the leadership as Senior Pastor along with his partner in ministry Pastor Tonya L. Knight serving until June 2022. They are graduates of Rhema Bible College, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and have three children. Talya, Najee and Elijah.

Pastor Justin French who has spent most of his life in Cayman Brac serving under the leadership of his father, Pastor Thomas French and his Mom Sis. Carla became the Senior Pastor and was installed on July 10th, 2022. He completed his studies and training at the Master’s Commission in Baltimore Maryland, in 2002 and was licensed and ordained through the Assembly of God Independent International Fellowship. He has three children and served until October 2024.
